Our Achievements
Since our inception, PATH’s inputs in, alternative livelihood training for women, education and skill development for children and young people, health for all, improved agricultural practices and environmental sustainability, have benefited numerous individuals, professionals, organisations, schools and communities.
Path develops toolkits, modules, manuals and other documents to share our experiences with donors, NGOs, INGOs and individuals nationally and globally.
Education, Protection & Health
- Supported more than 6500 children with inputs in Education till Class X.
- Ensured the completion till Class X for more than 300 children (60% girls)
- Worked with more than 40 government schools on a activity centered learning module based on the government school curriculum (Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation) for primary classes
- Created awareness on menstrual and personal hygiene for more than 5000 girls studying in government schools in association with SSM Kolkata
- Provided infrastructure facilities (water, sanitation & drinking water facilities & child friendly classrooms) in more than 40 government schools
- Ensured functional Operational & Maintenance fund for the Infrastructure facilities provided, especially the Water, Sanitation & Drinking Water facilities with support from the schools & SSM Kolkata
- Facilitated the formation of more than 40 VLCPCs &WLCPCs in Murshidabad & Kolkata in collaboration with the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU)- Kolkata & Murshidabad
- Prevented more than 300 girls from dropping out from school due to child marriage/child trafficking
- Prevented more than 200 boys from joining the labour force.
Training & Capacity Building
- Trained 270 government school teachers on formation and capacity building of child cabinets
- Trained over 200 government school teachers on the CCE module to make formative assessment simpler for schoolteachers.
- Built capacities of child cabinet members & Water & Sanitation Committee members reaching out to over 400 government school children in the primary & upper primary classes in association with SSM, Kolkata
- Trained over 500 young people from less privileged backgrounds, slums ,villages and streets , in Kolkata & Murshidabad on DTP, Hardware, Software, Tally, Driving, Hospitality & Retail Management
Documentation
- Developed a training module based on the government school curriculum (Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation-CCE)
- Developed a training module on menstrual and personal hygiene
- Developed a module for children &adolescents on Child Rights & Child Safeguarding
Community Development
- Reached out to over 1900 women through SHGs (Self Help Groups)and Kitchen Gardening
- Organized 325 women into SHGs;
- Trained 1900 women in kitchen gardening &over 100 women in poultry farming
- Reached out to 2250 farmers with inputs in Improved Agricultural Practices in Murshidabad & Birbhum
- Organized 750 farmers into 30 FFS (Farmer Field Schools) groups
- Covered over 3500 acres of land and improved agricultural produce from 15 quintals per acre to 18 quintals per acre and thereby increasing their income per acre.
Networking & Partnerships
Lead organization in West Bengal for an International Campaign “Destination Unknown- Children On The Move” partnering with over 35 NGOs in West Bengal directly and more than 118 NGOs indirectly. Led the campaign in West Bengal from 2013 to 2017. In India the states of Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Odisha and West Bengal have joined hands to develop the protection mechanism for children on the move.This campaign creates awareness to protect children from vulnerable situations during migration with the help of the administration. It also educates about the government’s initiative of Free and Compulsory Education to every child including migrant children.
Bandhu Kolkata – In 2018, PATH was given the opportunity to implement the “Bandhu Kolkata” project- a joint initiative of the Department of Women and Child Development & Social Welfare, Govt of West Bengal, Kolkata Police &other NGOs to keep Kolkata safe during Durga Puja. It takes place every year to create mass awareness and ensure the safety and protection of missing persons during the Durga Puja.
